How to make skins for eFX:
-
First, make a new folder in your "efx\skins" folder. Do this by exploring
to your eFX directory, double-clicking "skins", and then right clicking.
In the menu that appears, point to New and the click on Folder. Then type
the name of your new skin.
-
Second, load up an image editor such as Paint
Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.
-
Third, create new files based on the following sizes:
| Titlebar [titlebar.bmp] |
430x16 |
| Close Button [btn-close.bmp] |
16x16 |
| Maximize/Restore Button [btn-max.bmp] |
16x16 |
| Minimize Button [btn-min.bmp] |
16x16 |
| Help Select button [btn-help.bmp] |
16x16 |
| Top Frame [fr-top.bmp] |
260x2 |
| Bottom Frame [fr-bottom.bmp] |
260x2 |
| Left Frame [fr-left.bmp] |
2x400 |
| Right Frame [fr-right.bmp] |
2x400 |
-
Fourth, make a "skininfo" file. To do this, simply copy another "skininfo"
file into your new skin's directory, and edit it to suit your tastes.
-
Fifth, try it out by double-clicking the eFX icon in the system tray and
selecting the "Skins" tab. Then, select your skin and click OK. If you
don't get an error box, and your windows look different, you've succeeded!
-
Sixth, make a screenshot of the "eFX Control Panel" title bar, and
crop it down so it looks like the images in the Skins section on this site.
Zip your skin up with PkZip for Windows,
and send it and the screenshot to me,
for indexing on this site. Make sure the screenshot is a JPG file!
-
You're Done!
